Échappe-la pas Productions, through its work “Ode à Celle”, denounces violence against women and also the violence between women.

In this poignant performance, artists Chloé Péloquin and Coralie Roy explore the deep connections that tie us to our origin, to our matrix, to the one who gave us life. The woman, as the bearer of life, is portrayed as the pillar upon which our foundations rest.

Visually, these bonds are represented by a red nylon thread, kept under constant tension between the two performers throughout the piece. The performance, choreographic in nature, features intense and contrasting movements. The artists — sometimes in harmony, sometimes in conflict — find themselves trapped within the nylon, which tightens or loosens in response to their movement.

Though delicate in appearance, the nylon holds heavy symbolic weight: representing the invisible chains of patriarchy, societal expectations, and gender stereotypes. The ever-present red color evokes both the historic and ongoing struggles of women, but also symbolizes female solidarity, unity, and collective strength.
