☁️ Pola! – May 28th ☁️
Pola! is a quartet that breaks genre boundaries, blending traditions and sounds from various cultures around the world with a bold and experimental approach. The group consists of Alessandro Venza (guitar and vocals), Letizia Guastella (alto sax), Manfredi Caputo (percussion), and Manfredi Crocivera (drums). Their music brings together African rhythms, Balkan melodies, blues, Greek rebetiko, and influences from islands such as Réunion, Cape Verde, Crete, Cuba, and the entire Mediterranean.
Venza’s guitar combines the warmth of American blues with the melancholic depth of Greek rebetiko, the creole rhythms of Maloya, and musical traditions from Crete, Epirus, Mali, and the Maghreb.
Guastella’s saxophone gracefully merges jazz improvisation with powerful Balkan melodies. Caputo and Crocivera provide an explosive rhythmic foundation, a dialogue between Afro-Cuban tradition, jazz, funk, and afrobeat, creating a dynamic groove.
Pola!’s live performances are a journey that invites the body to dance and the spirit to wander.
Supported by the Italian Cultural Institute in Tirana, we invite you to enjoy this Sicilian band for the first time in Albania!
